Sharjah City: A Complete Tourist Guide
Sharjah, which means the Rising Sun, is a 6000-year-old emirate in UAE. This is one Emirate that is deeply rooted in history, culture and faith. Having said that, it doesn’t imply that Sharjah doesn’t have its share of adventurous sights. Sharjah is the third largest Emirate in UAE after Abu Dhabi and Dubai. It is spread all over the country, from West Coast to East Coast. Sharjah is one of the only 7 emirates, that is connected to the rest 6 Emirates. We began exploring Sharjah, last week when we went hiking to the Fossil Rock. This week we decided to explore the key sights in Sharjah city. So we ventured into the heart of Sharjah and discovered quite a few gems. Sharjah City: A Complete Tourist Guide is worth reading for anyone planning to visit Dubai in 2021 and beyond.

Facts About Sharjah
Did you know that Sharjah was incredibly ahead of Abu Dhabi and Dubai? This city dates back almost 6000 years! Sharjah was home to the first airport, library and municipality of the UAE. Sharjah is rich in culture and modernity. Here are the top places to visit in Sharjah:
Places to Visit in Sharjah
Sharjah Islamic Museum
This museum should not be missed when visiting Sharjah! Visit the Sharjah Islamic Museum to get a deep insight into the Islamic faith. The museum has artifacts that date back to the 1st century, with full of discoveries from Islamic philosophers throughout the years.
You need a minimum of 90 minutes to visit all three showcases. Just a heads up, on Fridays the museum is closed!
Souq Al Jubail
This is the largest fresh produce market! The market is divided into three places: produce, meat and fish. This is an important landmark in Sharjah! This is where you can taste all that the UAE has to offer. Don’t forget to get some dates and other fresh food!
Al Qasba
The Al Qasba opened in 2005 and is popular for tourists and residents alike. There are a lot of activities to do here! This place really comes to life with bars and restaurants along the waterfront. Check out the Al Qasba to just hang out and chill. It’s possible to enjoy a boat ride at Al Qasba but instead of doing that, we headed over to Al Majaz waterfront.
Al Majaz Waterfront
The Sharjah City: A Complete Tourist Guide would not be “complete” without mentioning the Al Majaz Waterfront. This place is absolutely stunning. It’s newer, and bigger than the Al Qasba. There’s a splash-pad, mini golf, rent bicycles, and much, much more. Enjoy a meal at a local restaurant and just enjoy the views! However, we rented a boat and explored the waterways. I highly suggest doing this!
Sharjah Mosque
This is the largest mosque in Sharjah! It’s currently not open for tourists to visit, only for praying. However, it is still beautiful to see!
Is there alcohol in Sharjah?
No, alcohol is strictly prohibited in Sharjah. You can’t drink alcohol in Sharjah, or even bring it here! The dress code in Sharjah is also very strict. While Western clothes are allowed, you cannot wear mini skirts or short sleeves. There are also absolutely no public displays of affection (PDA)! This includes no hugging or holding hands in public.
