Quarantine Photoshoot At Home

If you leave 2 photographers together in a lockdown for over a month, what do you expect us to do? Answer : Quarantine photoshoot at home!

As much as this global pandemic has caused suffrage all around the world and damaged the economies, left people jobless etc. It’s been quite a nightmare for full time photographers and travelers as well. If you’re either one of them, then you’re used to snapping away gorgeous valleys, lush green gardens, epic castles and spectacular waterfalls. While I was stuck at home for weeks together, my husband and me had to get creative with what to post on our instagram feed. Covid-19 has completely taken over the world, but its cannot take our creative juices away!

People are doing whatever they can to keep going. In fact, if you need any help, I have put together a little article on how you can ace your productivity during the lockdown. However, for a photographer, like myself, who’s ordinary day was all about being outdoors, attending meetings, heading out for photo shoots, this lockdown is just terrible. At first, I had the most challenging time dealing with this. But, as humans we adapt quickly and come up with alternate ideas to keep oneself busy. My husband and I run a photography business in Dubai and he’s known for his skills as a lifestyle photographer. So, I thought why not put this time and skill into good use. We decided to do a quarantine photoshoot at home.

1 – Relaxed. Refreshed. Recharged.

A bunch of souvenirs from all around the world are lined up on top and I thought why not put the music on, get a glass of wine, kick back, relax and binge-watch some movies.

2 – Follow Your Dreams

The lockdown gave me the opportunity to go after my passion. I realized this lockdown wasn’t so much of a curse as much as a gift. Finally, I took action and enrolled myself in the Superstar Blogging Course and launched my own website.

3 – “I Could Start Fires With What I Feel For You.”

My husband had a full-time job and he was managing the photography company with me. I almost never saw him. We were always so busy in our lives, we had to “make” time for one another. However, during the pandemic, we were blessed to have been with each other 24/7. I am deeply grateful for that.

4 – It Will All Make Sense One Day

How can one get exhausted during a lockdown without a job? Ahem, I can. I was swamped with studying and growing my Instagram and YouTube audience, I had to just take a break and avoid straining my eyes on multiple screens.

5 – I Make Wine Disappear. Whats Your Super Power?

I am an ardent Wine lover. “Back in the day”, I would usually go out for Happy Hours with my girls. However, those days are long gone. All I do now is Happy Hours over Zoom calls. During one such evening, before my call, hubby decided to snap a quick shot of me with my favorite drink! If we’re doing quarantine photoshoot at home series, this shot is a must.

6 – “I’ll Never Finish Falling In Love With You”

The series of quarantine photoshoot at home has been one my favorite photo sessions ever. Being photographers, we never get an opportunity to get our selves clicked. Either we’re asking strangers and giving an awkward smile or I am getting snapped alone. Nevertheless, we had the tripod and all the time to spare, so we set up the frame, added some off-camera flashes and Viola!

      7 – Wake Up & Make Up

After being at home for a month or so, I wanted to apply some make-up. I was missing my make-up kit. I was simply polishing my make-up skills, when hubby stole this shot of me in the reflection. This is what you call serendipity.

      8 – Future Goals

I spent hours reading several travel books, building my bucket list and designing several itineraries for future travels. I have itineraries ready for Western Australia, Fiji, Japan, Malaysia etc. Now all I have to do is board the flight!

9 – Tidy Room, Tidy Mind.

Have you ever worn an evening gown and dolled up for dusting your shelves, while having a glass of wine? Please don’t try it, you might end up spilling that wine. But I thought of trying out this idea for the Quarantine photoshoot at home.

      10 – Let’s Eat

Last, but not the least, I decided to re-create my morning routine, before the pandemic. The usual practice was cooking lunch while getting dressed and finishing up just before leaving for work. Those days were crazy. Today when I look back, as dreadful coronavirus has been, I am grateful for the lockdown. It gave me the opportunity to stop and slow down, reflect and take action.

These are a few ideas from my quarantine photoshoot at home. You can view the full series on my instagram page. I hope these gave you some tips to get creative and practice photography at home. If you look closely enough, you’ll see how little we notice about our surroundings. I hope the lockdown lifts and everything gradually goes back to normal. However, there are somethings you should take from this pandemic and one of them is to slow down and spend time with your loved ones. Get your priorities right. Cheers!
