My Story
For the longest time I was filled with self – doubt.
Have you ever felt this way?
For as long as I can remember, I was told what to do and how to behave. Coming from a south-asian background, where families are quite conservative, I was constantly reminded to not want more, to not dream outside of certain boundaries, to be content with whatever little I may have.
However, I always knew I was better than this. I knew I could want everything and have it, because I deserved it.
But the journey to realising this was long and not easy.
Growing up, I was always different from the rest. I’d try to “fit in” with the nerds or the athletes or other skilled students, but I didn’t succeed. To top it off, I had very restrictive curfew hours, which made socialising even harder. All of this made me an easy target for bullying.
There were times I remember my classmates would banish me and not include me in any of the fun extra circular activities, for no fault of my own. I always longed for a sense of belonging.
The question I often asked ” Was something wrong with me?”
I hated if I got unnecessary attention in class. I hesitated speaking in front of the class. And always felt others would make a mockery of me. I wished to be invisible because I barely existed for anyone, anyway.
I promise the story gets better.
My life turned around when I met my Life Coach, Darren Timms. After several sessions of Time Line Therapy (TLT) and reading his book “The Journey Back To Self: A Road Map of Discovery”, things started clearing up. Its like a huge fog had been lifted.
You always hear quotes like “why try to fit in, when you were born to stand out”. These are good words, but its hard to practice it if you don’t know who you were born to be!
In March 2019, I traveled to Nepal and amidst all the White water rafting and Yoga retreats, I realised my true calling. It became clear to me that I was born to be someone who spreads joy, inspires others and helps them in a way that would help me understand myself as well. I was born to be different from the rest. Hence, “Just Go With Amreen” was born.
While I am on this journey of exploring this concept, I would like you to be a part of this discovery.
I feel if my story can inspire or help even 1 person out there, then its definitely worth sharing. If anyone relates to me in any way and is facing similar struggles, I cannot recommend this book enough. Here’s a link to it “The Journey Back To Self: A Roadmap Of Discovery”. It will give you the power you thought you didn’t have. It will help you embrace being different from the rest. I promise!
